Ride time is barely pushing 10 minutes at the moment. Is there any ideal crank speed I should be aiming for? I haven't even changed out of top gear yet, and several rotations per second is the norm.

Yup. The controller flat-out doesn't support them. If you put a 3TB drive on a controller that doesn't support them or is configured wrong, it will show up as 750GB. I ended up ditching the controller, connecting them to the onboard ports, and using windows dynamic disks. Works great.

I remember when the first power consumption tests for SSDs were run. The SSD laptop died much earlier because it was able to max the CPU (and therefore do more work).

Integrating the power and data into the connector allows you to have a cable-free install. If someone were to include a female SATA power and data plug directly on the motherboard, that would work too.

Completely flat. 0.8mi. A matter of minutes, really. Next ride I'll be a bit more cautious at the start and see what happens. Even when I did exercise in the past, I never did cardio - always things that involved strength or endurance.

The advantages of a recumbent are appealing, but you are practically invisible to drivers. I've had some close calls, and my car is pretty close to the ground itself.

I don't think Windows is the right OS for a low-powered, touch-operated device. Too CPU intensive, and fundamentally designed to require a mouse and keyboard. Your battery life will suck, and functionality will be reduced.
