If you are running F@H, or some other app that will max your CPU constantly, variable speed fans are not significant. You've basically converted your machine into a steady-state heat source.

Nearly. 1. Read from a file called names.xls 2. Generate folders A-Z 3. Rename a different file, "Master Competency.xlsx" and put it in the folders. What you are going now is exactly right, except that the file I want copied is different than the file with the names.

Also, the file that needs to be copied is an .xlsx file with spaces in the name. Not sure if that matters or not...

I have quite a few of the 120mm and 80mm Noctua fans, and am quite happy with them. I didn't get their 140mm fans because I couldn't set them on edge and have them stay up.

Thanks Coug. Have any of the reputable companies come out with anything larger? There is basically no static pressure, straight CFM at low noise is ideal.

My new coffin can utilize 140mm or slightly larger fans. Haven't found any that I really like yet, but I'm running with 4 of these at the moment.

You could make the USB drives Dynamic Disks and then make them a RAID-5 array, but Lunar is right, that is a sub-optimal solution.

1. Don't worry about it. 2. Dedicate a disk. There isn't that much of a performance hit just running in a virtual environment. The hit is multiple VMs beating on the same disk. Give a VM (or even just the database) it's own spindle (or better yet, SSD) and it will be more than happy.

Just got a Toshiba 42" LED-LCD TV for the back room. Using it as a monitor until the ceiling mount arrives. Very happy with it. Got it for a great price as well.

I completely agree, you did the right thing. Sometimes the wrong thing isn't so bad, though. Depends on the consequences, and of course you would know those better than the rest of us.

Windows 7 allows you to set whatever resolution you like. It will scale and look like crap, but for some reason they never notice or say anything, even if I point it out.
