It started life as a mod, then became popular enough that they decided to release it as it's own product. The graphics are not it's strong suit, though it looks decent even at 2560x1440. The strategy is really the impressive part.

I still don't understand how the heat is effectively transferred from the static base to the moving heatsink. First it says the static air of the boundary layer is a problem, then it says that the heatsink is separated from the base by a cushion of air?

Sanctum is kicking my butt. Beat the game on "Easy"...but can't manage even one level of bridge on "Medium". Time to put more thought into weapon selection; the sale penalty on the towers is colossal.

The new TV I have does DLNA directly with built-in WiFi. Still need to look into how to make that work. Ideally, I'd love for the TV to be able to just play video from a share on my Win7 machine.

For my RDP needs, I map a drive directly to both sides of the connection, and do the file transfer that way. Still no major protections against corruption, but much faster.

I've never even heard of one for PCI. Considering practically every PCIe-capable motherboard on the planet has at least one Ethernet port and a ton of USB2 on it already, I'd find it unlikely.

IIRC, BIOSes have supported a "Virus MBR Lock" for some time, where it will interrupt any changes to the MBR when enabled. Of course, you have to turn it off to install the OS then remember to turn it back on.

I'd give you better than 50/50 that you'll be able to recover the install you have to work with the new hardware.

Are you planning a complete replacement? If not, can you give the specs of the build and what you would like to try and keep? Is the small size still important to you?

Are you sharing with "everyone"? IIRC, this means you also need to enable the guest account. Not the most secure thing to do.

There are a bunch of things that I do to make this work. The easiest is to turn off password protected sharing on the Windows 7 box by pressing the start button and typing "sharing". Choose "Advanced Sharing Settings" from the list, scroll down, and turn it off. If that doesn't work, let me know.
