    Seems like the short of the recent reviews I've read are saying:

    2080Ti=30% performance improvement at 70% more expensive
    2080=1080Ti
    Their recommendation is don't buy. Kind of disappointing given the cost especially when compared to prior releases of their GPUs over the years.

    Seems like if people sit tight the price will have to drop.

    You want to give me a good deal on the used 1080Ti you're replacing with it right?

    Do you have the conventional HSF for the 1080Ti or was this one of the special ones shipped directly with a water block on it?

    My presumption was that he bought the ones with the waterblock already on it thereby eliminating the possibility to air cool it with minimal effort. Hence my reply.

    Yup. Shipped directly with the waterblock. But I might have one with a reference cooler soon enough. If they are as good as it looks I'll get another.

    Well, SD gets first dibs if he's interested in the one with the reference cooler but if not I might be interested.

    What reference cooler? You mean the single squirrel cage blower thingy?

    I think so. Once I dig into that machine I'll be able to tell you more.

    I defer to Handy then. This would be for my HTPC, and those are't very quiet as far as I've read.

    New rig is built, spec is in my sig under "Work1" now. Currently scores as the 46th fastest machine globally in the superposition benchmark, and in the top 2% for 3dMark. It is damn fast.

    Sounds like a serious system that makes me envious in a good way.

    From what I can tell, everyone above me is LN2 or other crazy things. I'm still above ambient as it is my daily. I've considered sub-zero for a daily, but there are complications. Now that I do a fair amount of these builds, and my clients want more, I might just do it.

    Looks like it's time to get yourself a Titan RTX...
