I feel guilty watching TV as it is, so I don't enjoy things that aren't at least slightly informative. Shows that I wish they made more of:

Grand Designs
Top Gear
Mythbusters
Good Eats
The West Wing

Does anyone have suggestions for similar shows?

Almost anything on the History Channel or Discovery Channel.
Science channel is good too if you get it.

Most everything else is crap

Smash Lab (http://dsc.discovery.com/tv/smash-lab/smash-lab.html) was OK last season but I haven't been impressed this year. How It's Made (http://science.discovery.com/fansites/howitsmade/howitsmade.html) is fine when you don't need fine-grained detail; it's fine to leave on in the background. Cash Cab (http://dsc.discovery.com/fansites/cashcab/cashcab.html) is probably the most easy to watch game show around and is a goods trivia mix.

Unfortunately, I'm a little bored with most of the rest of the Discovery Channel family lineup.

Current regular TV shows I'm enjoying are Burn Notice (http://www.usanetwork.com/series/burnnotice/) (good for Bruce Campbell (http://www.usanetwork.com/series/burnnotice/theshow/characterprofiles/sam/index.html) fans) and the David Tenant Dr. Who (http://www.scifi.com/doctorwho/). Dr. Who just wrapped, though, and they won't be doing anything but some specials until 2010, but SciFi will certainly keep it going in reruns. PBS' airings are better than SciFi's though, as PBS has the whole hour to fill and uses the extra time to show the extras/'making of' from each episode if there are any.

I'm waiting for Chuck (http://www.nbc.com/Chuck/) to resume, and to a lesser extent Heroes (http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/) & Life (http://www.nbc.com/Life/).

Venture Bros, Weeds, Battlestar Galactica and Heroes are I think the only shows I watch that are still on the air.

There's a show on Comcast On Demand called "Bikini BBQ" that was pretty hilarious to watch with a bunch of lesbians.

Olga really likes Heroes, I have BSG but haven't watched it yet. The others I haven't checked out. 99% of my TV time is us watching together, and I don't think SciFi will pan out that well with her.

Whatever happened to PBS.

Maybe I was the only one excited about the Click and Clack show....

I do listen to Car Talk regularly. How It's Made is informative, but the host is terrible. Smash Lab is fun but missing something.

That's NPR. You know, the people with the really smooth voices.

Are there still server probs? I see a number of double posts lately.

I watched Hero's season 3 2hr opening epi...1st time I've seen the show, can't for the life of me figure out why it's a hit??? Heroes *is* kind of a character driven sci-fi series in it self...BSG has better babes though :D...reason Merc and I watch any epis, I suppose ;). Actually only seen BSG just once or twice.

Been watching "Fringe" since it started on the Fox network, right after House...which is really silly, except for the doctor babes ;). Not too bad, will probably get boring in a few more epis.
