No press release yet. Only listed on a few European web sites. Two variants exist, one with 16MB cache (HD102UJ), another with 32MB cache (HD103UJ). The marketing name will be SpinPoint F1. Platter size is unclear, with some rumors that it might use 333MB platters (unlikely). 250GB platters is more probable. The most interesting aspect is its price : 230€ for the 16MB cache, 240€ or the 32MB cache. Converted to U$, that's roughly 308$ and 320$. Quite a bit less than either the Hitachi or Seagate comparable offerings.
I got this from a thread (http://forums.storagereview.net/index.php?showtopic=25549) at SR.

Wow, guess I will hold off on my next purchase. Hopefully available inside a month?

I'm anxious for it to come out, but only because of what it should do to the 750GB 7200.10 SATA pricing. I'm running out of space again...

The 750s are definitely way overpriced at $230 a pop considering the 500's are right around $110-120.

Yep. The 500s came down a while ago, and the 750s haven't moved in at least a month. I still have some time, but I'm under 400GB free...

Can someone let us know when these are available through Newegg?
Does anyone know if there will be a 750GB offering as well? Or maybe a 666GB offering, if it uses 333GB platters. That's the one I would get.

In the X-bit Labs article, it is written that the capacities other than 1TB will be 320GB, 500GB and 750GB.
Crap. I just bought 2x320GB. I believe they are 2 platter designs.

OK cool. I can't access X-bit from work. Probably one of those terrorist sites.

I have a computer on the "test network" that has open access. But, it is at least 7 feet away from me and it is slow, so I am too lazy to go over there.

In the X-bit Labs article, it is written that the capacities other than 1TB will be 320GB, 500GB and 750GB.320 & 500 make some sense given 334GB platters. 750GB on the other hand makes no sense. It needs 3 platters.
I would guess that the 320GB is a single platter drive and the others have 250GB platters.

Does anyone still do 5-platter designs? If so, where is the 1.5TB drive?

Hitachi does five platters on whatever the previous generation density platter is.
I did notice that Seagate has moved up to consistently producing four platter designs for their size leader.
Just Hibachi.
Doesn't Hibachi make grills??? :-D

When? I am concerned about the heat from the Hitachi 1TB drive and the Samsung should require less power. And where is the Seagate 1TB drive?
