Selling books

Hey gang,
I've got a bunch of text books around my place that I want to sell. Amazon seems like a really easy way to sell stuff, but I've heard some nasty things (http://sillytech.com/threads/1065)about them. Ebay is a possibility, but I haven't sold anything on Ebay before. In fact, I've never bought something on Ebay before. My local bookseller is an option, but I'm not sure she can beat what I could get on Ebay. Does anybody have experience selling stuff, particularly books? Any recommendations?

Your local bookseller is going to undersell you, that's how they make their profit. On the other hand it's going to take a bit of work and time making an auction or amazon selling, plus shipping and all the associated stuff in selling to make that extra buck. This can turn out to be a hassle especially for a new seller. You also need to consider which of these books just came out with new revisions that the next class will use instead of what you are selling.

Honestly, for books, I would support my local guy and sell them back to him. For whatever he doesn't buy back because of old revisions, donate to the local library. That's what I did thought college, except for the donation part, now I have some school books I have moved three times so far and are not doing to much for me.

I sell and buy lots of stuff on eBay (same username as this forum) and for books I would not sell, and also only buy what I can't find locally.

I have sold some books on eBay. After you have a username set up just find a similar auction and copy what they said. Not too difficult.

I usually sell on Amazon or Half.com. If you have a local classified listing a la craigslist, that might be a good choice for a start.
