Let's see if we can do a little better than last year.
Packers over Baltimore; Farve retires on top.
Eli will be the Giants' starting QB after their bye-week (Week 6), and they'll finish 7-9.

Neither will I.
It doesn't really matter, I heard on the radio this morning that there will be a 10 second delay this year. Also, the NFL will keep complete control of the half-time show, unlike last year when they farmed it out to MTV.

Clocker, you picked two NFC teams.

I didn't realize that was a prediction, I thought it was a known fact. :D

This year, a team from another nation will play. I predict the Alouette.

Yeah but I really want them to beat Green Bay in the Super Bowl!
It was all a dream anyway...the Lions might make it to the playoffs but they sure as hell won't be winning the Super Bowl.

I think that I jinxed my team by picking them here last year. So this year I'm picking to "jinx" the teams I hope to see loose big time.
Pittsburg over Carolina (via of beating Philadelphia again in the NFC Championship game!).

Pittsburg has an NFL team? I know that Pittsburgh does....

It is the EAGLES vs Patriots.
My prediction is the Eagles by 10 points, 17 to 10.

John Madden will have this year's "wardrobe malfunction", thereby scarring an entire generation of youth in a way that Janet Jackson's nipple just could not manage.

The NFL has hired a group of monkeys to produce the half-time show.
It will be a work of Shakespeare.

Will- I think I can safely say your prediction is wrong. :-)
Personally, I think the Patriots will win and beat a 13 point spread.

I predict that this year's game will be held in a state which is home to neither team.

I predict that I won't care. Unless they can schedule Angelina Jolie to have a wardrobe malfunction.

Go rent Pushing Tin. There's plenty of Jolie-related non-clothes-wearing scenes in that.
Personally, I'm not that impressed.

Pushing Tin was a crappy movie. Not worth wasting the time to see some T&A.

I predict I will have to dick around with my rabbit ears to pick up Fox-HD OTA because the bastards at Sinclair and TWC haven't pulled their finger out.
Revenge will be mine when I tell them to shove it and go Dish (once they've switched to MPEG-4).

I predict that they will play on a large field and it will have lines.
That would be great. Unfortunately, they're still playing on that tiny American rules field. Bah. When will Americans realize that football is meant to be played on a real-sized Canadian field with 12 people on each side... The NFL with Canadian rules would be a wonder to behold.
I think I've committed enough heresy for now. So I'll save my prediction for later.

Every sport can be made better with the addition of land mines.

Nah, they're not fast enough to cover that much real estate. I'd like to see Michael Vick make the DE's and linebackers chase him all over the field, though.

^^ The typical NFL line and some of their linebackers, I mean.

The problem is that they keep picking the ball up. Even Canadians do that!
What's the deal with using the wrong shape ball and touch it? It's football, after all!

Hmm... don't quite understand the logic there. And if it was a joke of some sort I think it is in very bad taste.

Maybe RW's point is that the millions of $ that get spent on tickets & player salaries, etc. would be better spent on items that would improve the economy instead of on pointless entertainment.
While I don't wish death to sports fans, I will say that I don't really care about pro sports anymore. Too much business, not enough game. Too many greedy, whiny, immature, uneducated people involved (players, management, and fans).

I would rather have all the people that play professional sports die. I was talking about this a couple months ago with a friend and we both agreed that this would help the economy.
And no this is not a joke.

Actually you might say I wish LIFE to everyone who lives for sports . . . as in get one. :P

I predict the Patriots . . . :)
I wonder why :D - a pretty decent game overall, with the Pats just coming out ahead once again because they didn't make mistakes when it mattered and their opponents did. Question now is can they win it again without their two top assistant coaches?......

Do Brits really understand/care/watch the super bowl?
Wow. It's even worse than I thought.

Yeah they show it in Aus, Don whatshisname usually calls it/intros. Middle of the night. Of course, the game is so confusing that no-one knows what the hell is going on. Especially when compared to a much faster Aussie Rules Footy with a playing field easily twice as large, and no wussy pads/protection. Of course there's no requirement for 300+pound players in AFL either.
I pretty much understand the general gist of NFL, now that I'm watching my fourth season.

The rules are:
If at all possible, do not -- DO NOT -- use your feet on the ball.
This is why they call it football.
There's also:
When it's time for a commercial break, stop playing.

When McNabb threw that last interception my heart fell threw the floor.
The first half was pretty good.
But the second half the Patriots had the eagles number most of the time.
They were picking McNabb's throws out of the air.
I was thinking they should have had McNabb run with the football at the end. They would be expecting the hail mary throws.
I think the teams were pretty evenly matched as far as talent.
But the experience of the Patriots showed.
Do Brits really understand/care/watch the super bowl?
Wow. It's even worse than I thought.
Oh yes - I've been a fan since 1984 (when it first appeared on one of the new UK terrestrial channels), and when I get into something like that, I like to know all the detailed bits (I've done the same with major league baseball), so I'm probably not far behind most US football fans when it comes to the finer points of the game. This year's game was shown live on both terrestrial (ITV) and satellite TV (Sky, who carry two games every Sunday during the regular season, plus playoffs), and got quite a reasonable audience to say it was shown late at night here (11.30pm start) - I couldn't watch it live though because I had to work the early shift next day :(
