As the year has started changing in some places on this globe, a warm Happy New Year to everyone here!
Let's hope it's better than the last one!
(Still 6 hours 10 minutes to go here...).
Great show with the fireworks in Sydney!
Well, it's certainly started here, being a mere two hours off the international dateline. So is Sydney, but they cheat with daylight saving, just so they can celebrate first (after New Zealand etc, but they don't count :P).
So, Happy New Year one and all in slower parts. Just remember, Australia leads the world again this year. If you want to catch up, you'll have to live here.

So Oz, what's new in 2004 compared to 2003? Is the world a better place? Who won, AMD or Intel? Has Bush been re-elected?

Good to see you time. Happy New Year.
Thanks Howell. Likewise to you.
BTW Coug, I already told you all that stuff, but it was so long ago I can no longer remember.

Happy new year everyone.
Welcome back time, glad to see ya.
For what it's worth Merc, I'm glad you're still around after another year.

For what it's worth Merc, I'm glad you're still around after another year.
And in a pretty good shape too, judging by the tone of your last post. If you would have wished us all a new happy year and said that you eagerly awaited what nice things 2004 would bring, I would have called the cops and an ambulance immediately.

Yes, it is very nice to see that Merc is apparently doing somewhat better. :)
Some of us are going the other way in 2004, but that is a subjetc for another thread.

Merc more or less echoed my thoughts on the New Year. At least I have an excuse to get drunk once a year and watch the Twilight Zone all day. Outside of that I don't see that anything is different from last year, or the year before. Same crap in the papers each day, same powerless feeling to do anything about it. On the bright side, I made more money than the year power. On the not so bright side, Suzette died in July and my non-online social life and/or love life is as non-existent as the year before. At least I have this place. :) Thanks everyone for listening to my rants for another year. :drinka:
Likewise on many of the posts.
Here's hoping 2004 is more peaceful and promising than 2003.
I'm glad everyone's here. I don't post much (well, compared to some), but it's always great to come here and read a few comments. Or to ask for help/advice. :)

Ed K.,
Did you watch the fireworks in Sydney's port?

Hi CougTek,
I watched the fireworks on telly. A couple of years ago, I went out and watched the fireworks outside the Sydney Opera House in the public areas. Being in the celebratory mood and it was a hot day, I had a few drinks too many and was busting to go to the loo after the fireworks. I was horrified to see the line stretching 2 circles. Not only that, the women were also queuing in the men's toilets!
For year 2003, I decided to watch the fireworks in the comfort of my lounge room with drinks and loo close by :P
Cheers,
Edward
PS. If you wanted to know how I managed to avoid the queues, the botanical garderns are very close to the Sydney Opera House

A politically correct New Year greeting.
From me ("the wishor") to you (hereinafter called "the wishee"),
Please accept without obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, politically correct, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral, enjoyment of this generally accepted calendar year 2004, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all, and a financially successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the generally accepted calendar year 2004, but with due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures or sects, and having regard to the race, creed, colour, age, physical ability, religious faith, choice of computer platform or dietary preference of the wishee.
By accepting this greeting you are bound by these terms that: This greeting is subject to further clarification or withdrawal. This greeting is freely transferable provided that no alteration shall be made to the original greeting and that the proprietary rights of the wishor are acknowledged. This greeting implies no promise by the wishor to actually implement any of the wishes. This greeting may not be enforceable in certain jurisdictions and/or the restrictions herein may not be binding upon certain wishees in certain jurisdictions and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wishor. This greeting is warranted to perform as reasonably may be expected within the usual application of good tidings, for a period of one year or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first. The wishor warrants this greeting only for the limited replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wishor.
And by the Way, Happy New Year.
The Wishor
