I'm have a Dell GX240/2000 box that is hanging. It justs freezes the screen and does not accept keyboard or mouse input. This machine runs a scanner and software from Kofax. It also has installed in it one of their Adrinaline accelerator boards. It does not BSOD nicely and there is nothing in the event logs.
How do I go about diagnosing this problem? I have a headache now.

Did you make sure that it is nothing hardware related? Like a broken CPU fan or something stupid like that?

Are you sure that it's not debugging? How long have let it sit frozen?

... or some kind of obnoxious power problem.

Bit late in the day (ages since I've read the TD threads) but FWIW this is the sort of problem I always so a test install for. I.e., take a spare hard drive (any drive), format it, and see if the problem remains with the new install. At a stroke, you have reduced the size of the problem by 50% - either hardware & drivers or sftware. If in doubt, repeat with a different OS. (Win 98 instead of 2K, or whatever.)
Lather, rinse, and repeat.
