I recently visited Bar Harbor Maine and while I was there I took a few photos. I'm borrowing Tea's idea for a wide thread to post images, but I knew if I did, howell would edit them to links on me. ;)

Here are a few of the animals we saw while visiting the Acadia Zoo. It was a small place and I didn't really like the small areas each animal had. I don't image I would visit this Zoo again if I was in the area. However, the day was nice and the sun was shining, so I took some images to capture what they had.

I have other images of Acadia national park including Cadillac Mountain if you guys want to see more.

That camera looks sharp.

those goats remind me of the petting zoo around here... the gaots get a little too friendly if they see you have food.

The best place to see wildlife, in my opinion, is in the wild. While backpacking one year I saw a heard of over 100 Elk (including calves, cows, and bulls) It was astonishing. Last time I went out(last summer) a moose came through camp. We've also seen bear and moutain lion tracks, but never gotten the chance to see one out and about.

I was at the Berlin Zoo in June and took several pictures there. The Berlin Zoo is the largest zoo in the world with over 13,000 animals. We stayed there for about 5 hours and didn't even come close to seeing everything. The pictures were taken with a Canon digital Elf S200. Not all of them turned out well, but you can still get the idea.

Here are the pictures (700KB+)
Berlin Zoo - Giraffe (http://www.timwhit.com/zoo/IMG_1676.jpg)

Berlin Zoo - Some type of fish (my girlfriend insisted that we take a picture of this) (http://www.timwhit.com/zoo/IMG_1677.JPG)

Berlin Zoo - More Giraffes (http://www.timwhit.com/zoo/IMG_1678.JPG)

Berlin Zoo - Orangutan (I think) (http://www.timwhit.com/zoo/IMG_1679.JPG) (This guy was amazingly smart, he was attempting to grab hold of a tree that was close to the cage. He couldn't manage to get ahold of it though. So I handed him a stick. He then proceeded to use the stick to pull the tree branch closer to the cage. I think we watching him for about 20 minutes)

Berlin Zoo - Some kind of ape, I can't remember what kind anymore (http://www.timwhit.com/zoo/IMG_1680.JPG)

Berlin Zoo - This lioness was particularly fierce. (http://www.timwhit.com/zoo/IMG_1683.JPG) When the guy who fed her walked bye she charged the cage bars and swiped at him with her paw. She got within a few inches of nailing the guy too.

Berlin Zoo - The Lion (http://www.timwhit.com/zoo/IMG_1684.JPG)

Berlin Zoo - Some kind of small water mammal (http://www.timwhit.com/zoo/IMG_1685.JPG) I can't remember what kind of animal this was either. It didn't help that all the signs were in German either. Anyways this little thing made noises at us the entire time we stood there. I think he either wanted attention or some food.

Looks like a sea otter to me. To bad you didn't have any fish one you to feed them.

Probably a European Otter, if I remember my otters correctly. Wonderful creatures! Has anyone read Ring of Bright Water?
